https://forums.darkfallonline.com/sh...pdate-May-10th

I’ll first run through a few outstanding high priority issues:

EU server instability this past week which resulted in a few crashes was due to hardware failure. We compensated for this the best we could, and we’re working on replacing the hardware.

Some rollback after server crashes is unavoidable, however we understand they are causing quite a bit of grief. We’re working both on minimizing the possibility of crashes as well as the duration of the rollback. We’ll keep you updated on our progress here as we understand this can be a very frustrating issue.

Steam issues for Steam players: we’re working with Steam to help them address these issues;we’re doing everything we can on our end. We've addressed several of the problems already and we’ll keep working on this until it's resolved. In the meanwhile our Support offers a temporary work-around for players who currently cannot play through Steam.

Cheating, botting: not much to say here: you cheat; you’ll be detected and banned.

Progress on Dungeons and the Markets is good, as well as the other content priorities we discussed in previous updates. The ETA for starting to add the finished Dungeons is late next week; we’re just sorting out some final issues and testing. Besides these and other content priorities we discussed in previous updates (ships, mounts, schools, skills, chat and inventory etc.) we've adopted several of the community’s suggestions and made them high priorities. There’s a list of about 30 confirmed suggestions we’re now working on. I’ll list a few in this update:

Clan Vault deposit/withdraw logs: we consider this very important. Darkfall Online had this feature and the framework is there. What’s needed and what we’re working on are new GUI elements.

Clan Vault layers: Also very important, will provide clans with a way to safeguard high value items while being able to provide access to others to their members.

Swim Sprint while attacking used as a safe zone. This is not a major issue to fix, but it can have a serious impact on PvP. We’re working on the visual aspect of the changes needed.

Increase of respawn rates for larger groups of players: this could add significant value to group play.

Party prowess and kill distribution: This is high priority for us. Playing with clanmates or friends should be rewarding and entertaining. Some aspects of the current implementation create confusion and require players to manage kills distribution in a very unintuitive way. We’re planning to do away with the last hit mechanic.
We’re simplifying prowess and kill distribution mechanics for parties making all prowess gains from PvE distributed evenly and have kills awarded to party members in round-robin fashion.

More uses for Dominion / Increasing Holding importance: Player consensus is that there are not enough ways to spend Dominion and we agree. We will introduce ways to consume Dominion on Clan City upkeep, Guard tower special options and effects, holding siege protection timers, and maybe even on clan member boosters.

That’s all for today, thank you for reading. Your feedback is always appreciated.

We have established that the EU server instability yesterday was due to hardware failure, we've compensated for this, and we're getting replacement equipment in as we speak. We apologize for the inconvenience.

These are the patch notes for today. We'll follow-up with a proper update tomorrow:

General fixes

Fix for a character that is killed while logging out sometimes leaving behind an empty corpse, and logging back at their bindstone with their full inventory.
Fixed a bug where a clan would not disband after the last member left.
You can now use # - _ ( ) and space when renaming a bag.
Fixed a bug where logging in with a character the combat log would get populated with a spam of messages (about feats already unlocked and completed.
Fixed a bug where in some cases friends list would show empty when logging in.
Fixed a bug where in some cases GUI was not tolerant to MouseDown - MouseUp sequences
Fix for “speed up” sound of footsteps.
Fixed a bug where two players could get their trade sessions blocked after trade receiver died.
Fix for a crash when using a mount before it was fully loaded.
Server performance optimizations

Skill changes

Unburden
-34% Magnitude

Unburden's Lighten effect now stacks with advanced food Lighten effect.
Fixed description to more accurately describe the current state of the skill.
Harvesting changes
Harvesting skills (except for digging) will no longer get interrupted when players or monsters walk in front of you.
(Note: However, this holds true for only the current use of the skill and not the automatic next iteration if you do not have a line of sight with the node.)

Mining, Logging, Herb Gathering, Fishing
Success rate changed to 100% at all times. They had 75% (at Skill 1) to 95% (at Skill 100).
Harvesting timer has been increased from 10 to 12.5 (at Skill 1) and from 8 to 8.4 (at Skill 100).
Updated Skill-up GUI text for these skills.

Skinning
Success rate changed to 100% at all times. They had 75% (at Skill 1) to 95% (at Skill 100).
Skinning timer got increased from 5 to 6.25 (at Skill 1) and from 5 to 5.25 (at Skill 100).
Updated Skill up GUI text for Skinning.

(Note: Concerning some of the low level monsters, there’s a chance of failure when skinned but this is due to the monster's Skin Loot Table and not because skill fails.)

Digging
Updated Skill-up GUI text for Digging as the Digging Timer is constant.
World updatesRemoved all the NPC Guard Vendors from the Racial Outposts (for now).

I didn't find anywhere that clearly explained how to fix the issue with the g930 and g35 where sound only comes out of the right speaker when using mumble in Windows 7 and Vista.
A lot of people say turning surround sound or turning on the "Positional Audio" option in the Audio Output (advanced checked) settings in Mumble is the solution. These are both wrong and not the correct solution. Surround sound seems like it fixes the issue, but it introduces a bunch of software processing that does not sound natural. The positional audio option just adds a little bit of sound to the left side, but not equal to the right side, making it seem like the problem is fixed, but it isn't.

THE FIX:

1) Close Mumble. Right click on the mumble shortcut and click on properties. Go to the compatibility tab and check the option "Run This Program in Compatibility Mode for" with Windows XP Service Pack 3 selected. Then click ok.

2) Now open Mumble and go to the settings. Click on Audio Output on the menu and check that the output mode is DirectSound. In my pc, this is now the only option and cannot be changed.

3) Disable the Positional Audio option and click ok. The problem should now be fixed.

Turning on Windows XP Service Pack 3 compatibility will force mumble to use DirectSound mode instead of WASAPI for the audio output. You will notice this in the disabled drop down menus in Audio Output and Audio Input. Without turning Windows XP compatibility mode on, Mumble uses WASAPI mode and does not let you select Direct Sound. When compatibility mode is turned on, Mumble uses Direct Sound and will not let you chose anything else.

I hope this helps as I spent way to much time trying to fix this issue. The only drawback is that mumble's awesome positional audio feature will not work with the g930/g35. It will only make the one ear problem resurge if turned on.

https://forums.darkfallonline.com/sh...ks-Info-Thread

I'd like to dedicate this time to the individuals who care to share their prowess-gaining tips, for the good of the community, to maximize the amount of people who stick with the game. We don't need this toxic information-exclusion behavior infesting everyone.

Just as some general information: PvE feats seem to be the best, so do them. Try to make sure you are accomplishing multiple feats; for example, killing Trolls not only gives you a feat for the action itself, but also a feat for killing Humanoids and a feat for killing Creeps (see info below). Most of all, farm with your friends, in groups (of preferably 3+), alternate on last-hits so you can all get the feat done. Harvesting and crafting are great for when you can't be responsively at your keyboard.

Disclaimer: Info may be incorrect/inaccurate

Monster Health vs Prowess

http://ompldr.org/vaTU3dg/output.html
(Higher up/larger ratio is better)

From this chart, we can get a rough idea of what is efficient to farm. This does not take into account mob protections or mob damage to player, so it's not a great predictor.

Hidden PvE Feats

There are some hidden feats which primarily relate to killing a certain amount of monsters of a specific rank.

Kill 10 Varmints - 4.786 Prowess
Kill 100 Varmints - 47.86 Prowess
Kill 1000 Varmints - 478.6 Prowess
Kill 9 Creeps - 9.1521 Prowess
Kill 90 Creeps - 91.521 Prowess
Kill 900 Creeps - 915.21 Prowess
Kill 8 Freaks - 17.0376 Prowess
Kill 80 Freaks - 170.376 Prowess
Kill 800 Freaks - 1703.76 Prowess
Kill 7 Beasts - 30.87 Prowess
Kill 70 Beasts - 308.7 Prowess
Kill 700 Beasts - 3087 Prowess
Kill 6 Fiends - 54.309 Prowess
Kill 60 Fiends - 543.09 Prowess
Kill 600 Fiends - 5430.9 Prowess
Kill 5 Villains - 92.1705 Prowess
Kill 50 Villains - 921.705 Prowess
Kill 500 Villains - 9217.05 Prowess
Kill 4 Terrors - 149.2264 Prowess
Kill 40 Terrors - 1492.264 Prowess
Kill 400 Terrors - 14922.64 Prowess
Kill 3 Scourges - 225.2508 Prowess
Kill 30 Scourges - 2252.508 Prowess
Kill 300 Scourges - 22525.08 Prowess
Kill 2 Monstrosities - 300.7958 Prowess
Kill 20 Monstrosities - 3007.958 Prowess
Kill 200 Monstrosities - 30079.58 Prowess
Kill 1 Horror - 300 Prowess
Kill 10 Horrors - 3000 Prowess
Kill 100 Horrors - 30000 Prowess

The Effect of Diminishing Gains

http://i.imgur.com/URhuhU3.png

There are diminishing gains on prowess, which is affected by your total prowess level. These diminishing gains do not apply to prowess from feats.

By ~6000 prowess you are at 50% prowess gains.
By ~40000 prowess you are at 25% prowess gains.

From this, we can clearly see that it is most efficient to grind without doing feats initially, and then start doing feats. It will save you some thousands of prowess compared to someone who didn't. Edit: I'm not telling you not to do feats toward the beginning. I'm just stating facts. In the grand scheme of thing, the 3-6k prowess you save won't mean much when you have 50k+ prowess. By not doing feats early on, it will take you longer to get to a reasonable PvP-viable amount (15k+).

AFK Clan Members

If a clan member is going AFK, have him come to a mob spawn with you or a group of people. Let him join your party and be nearby. His presence will increase the spawn rate (meaning more efficient farm). If he is sufficiently close and in your party, he will be able to leech a portion of the prowess as reward.

Using Multiple Accounts

You can also do the aforementioned tactic by using multiple accounts. In addition to this, you can use your alternate account to harvest raw materials, and refine them on your main account. Refining gives a lot of prowess. After you refine it, you can go on further to craft with the resources, which is also a good source of prowess.

Mounted Farming

It's pretty efficient to farm using your mount in many cases. They are quite tanky, and you do increased damage with your weapon. Just make sure you have heal mount >=50 or else it will be too slow.

Should include the dmg formula, it's important for grinding to go all into dmg for grinding efficiency.

dmg formula: [ (.2*stat + .05*skill + .03*mastery) + wpn dmg - mob resist ]

in other words

10 stats=2 dmg, 20 weapon skill=1 dmg, 33 weapon mastery=1 dmg

For example it takes something like 400 prowess to get 60 weapon skill which will give you an efficiency boost (and more dmg) over 10 stats if 10 stats costs more than 400 prowess. Weapon skill also increases speed so that too has an effect on dps. The extra vital stats from booster aren't strictly speaking important for mob grinding efficiency, the other nice thing is that skill has much nicer prowess/dmg increments so you can get your prowess working for you faster than if you're holding onto a chunk of it to get that 800 for a booster or whatever.

Another important point is mob strengths/weaknesses, there are some mob spawns that warriors can clump many mobs together without taking much dmg and in effect kill several mobs in the same time it would take to kill 1 otherwise. As well by having good positioning and awareness you can make the mobs damage each other at the same time to speed up your killing.

Even if you're alone killing speed can be important because you also have to skin which is a time sink, if you've ever been cursing to the wind because you can't even skin fast enough before repops aggro you then you need to improve killing speed. If you unbalance the spawn by killing mobs separately so they spawn separately then use your discretion to figure out if you should wait for a full respawn to get all mobs on the same timer.

Sometimes you don't want them to all spawn at once if it's a hard mob, then you want to stagger them so you can kill one and then have another spawn right as you kill that one. This means no down time, and no extra mob getting pot shots on you while you try to beat down his friends.

Another tip for working on hidden feats:
http://www.darkfallunholywars.info/prowess/

Select monster in the category to filter everything out but monsters. Monsters with the same prowess points are in the same tier.

Say a Scumling is a freak and it has .351 points then anything else in the list with .351 points is also a freak. Combine that with yourmom.at/agon to search mobs and you can plan out ahead of time what mobs you want to kill to line everything up.

All said and done though, there's no way to be the fastest without having done a real run through the gauntlet to begin with. Mob density, respawn rate, protections, exclusivity, and a bunch of other factors can add together and weaken or improve certain spawns or progression patterns. Only way to get a good grasp of that for real is just to have done it.

Which reminds me if you're going to multi client to boost spawn rate, you should try to plan ahead and farm mobs that have some kind of harvesting nodes in the middle of the spawn so your alts can afk gather while you farm instead of being completely useless outside of being spawnbots.

Even if you don't need say wood or stone, you can trade it for what you do need... resources are valuable period.
